Enel Green Power 76-MW wind farm in Canada comes online
Castle Rock Ridge wind farm becomes operational with 76 MW of installed capacity, Castle Rock Ridge (CRR) will be able to generate more than 200 million kWh annually, therefore avoiding the atmospheric emission of over 130 thousand tons of CO2. EGP’s total installed capacity in North America increases to 1,088 MW.
Canadian Solar renews warranty-insurance policy
Canadian Solar, a leading solar energy company, has announced that it has successfully renewed its product warranty insurance policy. The company introduced this policy in 2010 and became the first in the solar energy industry to offer such coverage. The policy includes a product and performance warranty that is supported by a non-cancellable insurance plan. The insurance policy is underwriting by several leading insurance companies in the U.S. and Europe. The warranty policy was renewed through April 1, 2013.

Hydro Ottawa Applauds Bayshore Shopping Centre for Going Green

In all, 65 stores at the west-end shopping centre have upgraded to energy efficient lighting, as part of the saveONenergy Small Business Lighting Program. This province-wide initiative, which is administered locally by Hydro Ottawa, provides up to $1,000 in free energy-efficient lighting and equipment upgrades.

Windmill orders power Seaforth Energy

The winds of change are blowing in a positive direction for Seaforth Energy Inc.
About two-thirds of the windmills the company’s building are destined for Nova Scotia. The remainder are going to Scotland and Italy.
“We’ve got more orders in-house than I think the company’s ever had,” Seaforth president and CEO Mike Morris said Tuesday.

Maine developer urges more tidal power co-operation in Bay of Fundy

The tidal power industry in Maine and Nova Scotia should be working closely together to answer environmental questions, an energy forum heard Thursday in Halifax.
John Ferland, director of project development with Ocean Renewable Power Co., said a regional approach would save money and help the industry develop.
